The humble burger remains one of the most popular choices when it comes to eating out in the capital and as such, Edinburgh has some truly great burger joints on offer.
So much so, that our restaurants and bars regularly take home awards for their epic creations and it seems we could be on the verge of winning more.
The judges at the Scottish Restaurant Awards have named several of our favourite burger spots in the running to be named the Best Burger Restaurant in the country.

The first of the finalists named is Bread Meats Bread on Lothian Road , with the regular award-winning family-run restaurants impressing with their innovative twists on the classics such as their signature Wolf Burger - a Bacon cheeseburger loaded with pulled pork in smoky BBQ sauce, crispy fried onions and Gochujang mayo.
Next up is Stockbridge institution Bell's Diner , with the yellow-fronted favourite on St Stephen Street which has been serving locals since the early 70s impressing with its customizable menu and delicious melt-in-your-mouth in-house butters.
George Street specialists Butta Burger also made the shortlist thanks to their enticing smashed burgers seasoned with their signature Butta blend.
Top Fife joint Burger Island is the only other east coast entry, with the family-run restaurant in Burntisland picked out thanks to its exciting offerings such as the Volcano burger and the Salt and Pepper Stack.
Posting on the official Facebook page, the awards team wrote: "Congratulations to the finalists and all those nominated! Let’s celebrate the best of Scotland’s Restaurants!"
