The Edinburgh restaurants crowned the best in Scotland at the Curry Awards

Several of Edinburgh's top curry houses won big at this year's annual Scottish awards which celebrate the best in the business across the country.

After months of anticipation and fierce competition, the 15th annual Scottish Curry Awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 2 at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow, with more than 400 guests in attendance.

The prestigious event recognised and celebrated the talents and hard work of individuals and businesses within the Scottish curry industry.

And restaurants in the capital took home a slew of awards including Chennai’s Marina – which continued its award-winning run with the Outstanding Indian Takeaway of the Year title – and Kahani which was crowned the best Indian restaurant in the capital.

Other winners from Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians included Dhoom in Dunfermline which was named the Most Wanted Indian Restaurant of the Year, and The Bombay Lounge in Dalkeith which won the Curry King or Queen award, while the Indian Restaurant of the Year Overall Winner was named as the Virsa Indian Restaurant in Bathgate.

Individual awards were also handed to Ghana Bhandari at Gurkha Bar & Restaurant in Musselburgh (Manager of the Year) and Pankaj Rawat at Bell Bottom Indian in Edinburgh and Livingston (Curry Entrepreneur of the Year).

These Awards celebrate Scotland’s rich and diverse curry culture and encourages the continued growth and evolution of the industry. The winners have distinguished themselves with their exceptional quality, innovation, and consistency in offering a truly memorable dining experience.
