The easiest parts of the country to pass your car MOT have been revealed - with drivers in and around the capital appearing to have the most success.
A new independent study of government data shows that the London Borough of Enfield has the highest pass rate of any area in the UK on the annual test of car safety and roadworthiness.
The average rate for passing in the area is 87%, with only 13% of vehicles failing the test.
The north London patch is home to a population of just under 160,000 people with famous locals including Ray Winstone and Jessie Wallace - and it has a total of 45 MOT garages.
At the opposite end of the scale was Kirkcaldy in Scotland, birthplace of eighteenth century economist Adam Smith, where just 72% passed their MOT.
Local man Graeme Wallace said his car, a 2015 Fiat Panda, failed its MOT last year.
The 54-year-old said: "I didn't really expect it to pass with flying colours and I was right - it failed on a number of things, an indicator that didn't work and the suspension was shot to pieces.
"I had to spend just over £300 to get it all fixed."
After being told that Enfield was the best place to pass, Graeme said: "I don't think a 900-mile round trip would do my car any good."
A spokesman for A-Plan Insurance, who published the study, said: "Our study of the latest GOV.UK data on MOT tests found that Kirkcaldy is the area of the UK you are most likely to fail your MOT.
"Taking the top spot as the UK area with the highest percentage pass rate for an MOT is Enfield, London with an average pass rate of 87%, and a fail rate of just 13%."
"An MOT checks that your vehicle meets the road safety and environmental standards and is a requirement by law but it is a particularly easy test to fail.
Small things that could see you fail your MOT include your screen wash not being filled up or a lit-up warning light being on the dashboard, he said.
