The Duchess of Cambridge has her Jenny Packham ballgown moment in Jamaica

At a sparkling state dinner held in Jamaica last night, the Duchess of Cambridgemade a statement in a glittering green Jenny Packham gown.

On the fifth day of the royal Caribbean tour, which marks Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee year, the duchess continued the glamorous tone which has come to define her 2022 tour wardrobe.

The emerald gown featured a crystal embellished bodice, which cinched at the waist, while eyes were drawn to a frothy tulle, off-the-shoulder neckline. Kate also added her Royal Family Order and the GCVO Star, plus diamonds which had been leant by the Queen.

Jenny Packham is Kate’s go-to designer when it comes to making a black tie statement. She has been wearing the British designer’s frocks for over a decade, and made a splash last December with the gilded gold sequin number Packham created for London’s No Time To Die premiere.

Last night’s dress looks to be a custom edit of the ‘Wonder Glitter Tulle Gown’, which costs £3,791, altered in green to make a nod to the Jamaican flag. It comes after the duchess landed on the island wearing a canary yellow Roksanda gown, also a diplomatic gesture.

Earlier in the day, Kate cut a striking figure in a sharp tailored Alexander McQueen suit. The jacket, £1,370, and matching trousers, £575, came in brilliant white, and contrasted with an electric orange Ridley London blouse and matching bag.

Kate and McQueen have a long standing history, which includes the British brand designing her 2011 wedding dress, and robing her for the recent Paolo Roversi portraits celebrating her 40th birthday.

The couple have three days left of the eight day tour, which will see them visit The Bahamas to conclude the trip.
