The Duchess of Cambridge entrusts Alessandra Rich with her Prince Philip memorial dress

Fresh from a divisive but well-styled tour of the Caribbean, the Duchess of Cambridge has swapped glittering evening gowns and heavy print summer dresses for a long sleeved, black polka dot frock for the Duke Of Edinburgh’s memorial service.

Arriving at Westminster Abbey on a grey Tuesday, Kate chose an Alessandra Rich gown costing £1495, which puffed at the sleeves, cinched at the waist and featured a pleated lower shin length skirt. It had a high neck and triple statement buttons on the left shoulder.

Holding daughter Princess Charlotte’s hand, the Duchess cut a dramatic silhouette with the addition of a wide brimmed, matching black Boater hat spruced with a white ribbon and feathers, plus a pair of drop pearl earrings.

The duchess also chose Alessandra Rich, a London headquartered brand known for its personable take on feminine dressing, for her final look to depart The Bahamas on March 26, following an eight day tour of the Caribbean. She opted for a floral, yellow printed puff sleeve frock which came with a playful bow and crystal encrusted belt buckle.

Kate was joined at today’s memorial for Prince Philip by a host of fellow British Royal Family members, as well as an intentional set representing the European monarchy.

The Queen herself came dressed in a dark forest green overcoat with a black velvet rolled collar and matching cuffs. Princess Anne and the Duchess of Cornwall followed suit in wearing green, which looks to be nod to the Duke of Edinburgh whose livery colour was Edinburgh Green.
