On the most romantic day of the year, an appeal has been launched to find someone to love an unlucky lurcher after he has been taken back to Dog’s Trust in Bridgend three times. But hope might be in his favour, as all the workers at the centre are crossing their fingers that this time round he will finally get his happy ending.
Originally, this five-year-old pooch named Conker came to the centre in November 2018 when he was brought in as a stray, and has been waiting for his fourth home ever since September 2022 when he was brought back yet again. But although it might sound like the unlucky hound could be Bridgend’s most badly behaved dog he has actually been described as a “true gent”, leaving the team at the centre baffled by his repeated returns.
Conker has had to sit back and watch over 150 dogs find their forever-afters since he got to the centre, making the staff there all the more determined for someone to give him a permanent place to live. After watching him get overlooked by hundreds of potential new owners, Dog's Trust's Rehoming Centre Manager in Wales, Angela Wetherall said: “We are lucky enough to have seen hundreds of dogs find their forever homes over the last five months but nothing could really compare to seeing Conker finding a loving new forever family of his own.

"Conker is a fantastic lad who can be shy when it comes to meeting new people, and can react to some dogs when out and about, so we think this might be what puts people off adopting him. But with patience and time, Conker’s true personality will shine through and he loves to play and spend time with his human friends.
"He could live with children aged 14 or above but would need to be the only pet in his new home. With his stunning looks, Conker has become quite the model at the rehoming centre and will happily pose for photos to get him noticed on our website and social media channels but so far he hasn’t had much luck in finding the right forever home. We’ve all got a soft spot for Conker and whilst we don’t want to see him go, we are hoping that there is a local dog lover who has space in their home and heart to give him a family of his own."
If you think you would be a good fit for Conker to give him a forever home, you can find out more by visiting Dog's Trust's Bridgend website.
