The Los Angeles Dodgers did something neat this offseason, installing LED lights that create some wildly cool effects after a home run, a show that makes you feel like you’re in a club.
That said, there was a problem with them in the season opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks when they went off NOT during a home run trot.
Let’s go back for a second: After a home run by James Outman in the opener and a Mookie Betts blast on Friday, you can see the show, and I have to say this is just the coolest. I’d love to see other stadiums adopt this!

Like I mentioned, there was a problem with them in the season opener: They went off as D-Backs outfielder Jake McCarthy was throwing the ball back in after a Will Smith single.

And, per the Los Angeles Times: “The second mistake came during the eighth inning as Diamondbacks reliever Carlos Vargas warmed up on the mound before his major league debut. Arizona catcher Gabriel Moreno had trouble seeing the pitches so home plate umpire Marvin Hudson immediately signaled to have someone turn the lights on.”
The Dodgers apologized and hopefully all will be well with this new, spectacular celebration of dingers.
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said the Dodgers apologized today for their blunders with the lights last night.
