The D-Backs Kept Receipts From All Their Doubters Through the NLCS

The Diamondbacks defeated the Phillies on Tuesday night to complete an unlikely NLCS comeback, overcoming an 0-2 deficit to make their second World Series in franchise history. At various points in the postseason, it seemed that no one gave Arizona a chance of reaching this far, making the accomplishment even more sweet.

After celebrating the NL pennant, the Diamondbacks made sure to push back on all their critics throughout the NLCS. While Chris “Mad Dog” Russo made headlines with his vow to retire from radio should the D-Backs upset the Phillies, there were more doubters for the team to use as motivation.

On social media, Diamondbacks ace Zac Gallen and closer Paul Sewald responded to many of their critics, mainly Phillies fans, who either talked trash at Arizona or confidently predicted a Philadelphia victory.

That list of doubters included Phillies catcher Garrett Stubbs, who confidently mentioned celebrating in the pool in right field at Chase Field if the Phillies had won the series in Arizona.

After all the talk, the Diamondbacks defended themselves throughout the series with their play on the field, making sure everyone knew they weren’t afraid of the moment and winning four of the last five games.

Arizona has to win four more games to pull of one of the biggest underdog stories in MLB history, but by getting to this point, they have already proven that they belong.
