The Crown are looking for an actor to play a young Prince William - with filming starting in just a few days' time.
The Netflix show is said to be recruiting a young person to play the Duke of the Cambridge in the upcoming series, which is expected to start filming next month. Four series of the show have already been released, whilst the fifth season is expected to be unveiled in November 2022. Ahead of the release date, work has turned to the next season.
It will cover the period between 1997 and the early Noughties, which will feature key moments of the young Prince's life. This will include the time where he met his future wife Catherine Middleton at St Andrew's University.
The show's casting director is now on the hunt for a new actor to play Prince William, with a listing being posted on acting websites requesting an actor with a strong physical resemblance to play the Duke.
An advert shared online reads: "Netflix series The Crown is searching for an exceptional young actor to play Prince William in the next series. This is a significant role in this award-winning drama, and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance.
"Shooting will commence in early September 2022. No previous professional acting experience is required."
They also added: "We are very experienced in providing a great deal of support for the young actors and their families through what they find a uniquely rewarding creative process."
Bosses are also said to be on the look out for someone to play a young Prince Harry, too, with a similar advert listed online on various websites online too. They are believed to want someone to play the Duke of Cambridge between the ages of 16 and 21, and the Duke of Sussex between the age of 16 and 20, documenting their later education years.
It comes after producers were keen to cast someone to play a young Kate Middleton.
"Having the Duchess of Cambridge starring is an easy win for The Crown, as the creators know it will get more people watching," A source said, "Particularly as it will show her relationship with William just as their romance starts to blossom when they were both students. But since she’s not necessarily a crucial part of the storyline, they’ll only cast someone if they can find the right candidate."
