The first images of another epic recast in The Crown have been revealed.
British acting legend Sir Derek Jacobi portrays the Duke of Windsor in The Crown season 3, taking over the role from Alex Jennings.
Jacobi appears opposite fellow veteran performer Geraldine Chaplin as Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, who takes over form actress Lia Williams in the first two seasons.
The pair portray the controversial couple in episodes of the third run, which will see them share scenes with Olivia Colman as The Queen and Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles, Prince of Wales.
The Duke of Windsor famously abdicated his role as King Edward VIII to marry his lover Wallis Simpson, who he had been blocked from marrying due to her status as a commoner and American divorcee.
The result of this also saw his brother become King George VI and his niece become heir to the throne and the eventual Queen Elizabeth II.
The second season saw Claire Foy's Queen have a showdown with the Duke over his connections to the Nazi party during World War II.

Additionally, trailers have already shown Wallis warning Charles to not trust his family and put love first before anything else.
The young prince is set to find first love with Camilla Shand (Emerald Fennell) in the new season, so could he be set to feel a similar dilemma to his disgraced uncle?

The Crown season 3 is released on Netflix on November 17, 2019.
