The Crown's Princess Diana actress recreates iconic moment with eerie accuracy

The Crown actress Emma Corrin has recreated Princess Diana’s arrival at the Barnado’s Champion Awards at London’s Savoy Hotel.

Diana was a big supporter of the charity and the scenes are for the hit Netflix show The Crown which will see Emma appear in the fourth season, set to be released next year.

Her co-star, Josh O’Connor who plays Prince Charles, says Emma is “the spitting image” of Diana.

The actress has been widely praised for her astounding recreation of the People's Princess.

In scenes already filmed Emma played Diana during her 1983 tour of Australia.

Pictures show how the princess was surrounded by excited fans as the waved Australian flags on the tour, which she took with then-husband Prince Charles and baby William.

Despite being set Down Under filming actually took place in Spain.

Emma was over the moon when she was chosen for the role.

She said: "Princess Diana was an icon and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring.

"I have been glued to the show and to think I'm now joining this incredibly talented acting family is surreal."

The unknown 23-year-old was selected for the plum role after show bosses were impressed with her ability to capture the look of the young Lady Diana Spencer in her days as a Sloaney teenager working as a nanny.

Insiders on the  Netflix  mega-hit say the young British actress is “the double” of Lady Di in the early 80s, the point at which she began dating Prince Charles.

"Emma is a brilliant talent who immediately captivated us when she came in for the part of Diana Spencer.

"As well as having the innocence and beauty of a young Diana, she also has, in abundance, the range and complexity to portray an extraordinary woman who went from anonymous teenager to becoming the most iconic woman of her generation," The Crown creator Peter Morgan said.

As well as the “charming comedy”, Corrin will also portray the Princess in darker times, as a “desperate and lonely self-harmer at her lowest ebb”.
