The Crown star Erin Doherty has admitted she has no desire to be famous, despite playing a very memorable part in the hit Netflix series.
Erin played the role of Princess Anne as a young woman in seasons three and four, but claims she still doesn't get recognised in the street.
During an interview with PORTER magazine, the 29-year-old actress opened up about acting alongside Olivia Colman and what she's planning for the future.
Speaking about landing the role on The Crown, Erin told the publication: "It made me assess fame really early on. I was like, ‘What is this weird world? What is it that I like? What do I not like? How do I want to live?'
"It made me realise I love acting and don’t want to stop doing theatre," Erin continued.
Asked if she wants to be famous, she simply replied: "Why would you want that? I want to walk down the street!"
London-born Erin landed the part of Princess Anne very early on in her career, so of course it was a big deal.
"I hadn’t done anything; it was a lot, kicking off my career with the biggest show in the world. But that feeling hasn’t gone," Erin admitted to Porter magazine.
Luckily for Erin, she made friends fast, and said of her co-stars: "Olivia Colman [who played the Queen] is a good cuddle. Tobias Menzies [ Prince Philip ] is a good cuddle. Initially the hardest part was acting opposite Olivia Colman – I was like, ‘It’s you!'"
Erin's next role is in psychological thriller, Chloe, in which she plays a troubled woman named Becky.
"I like people who are flawed… When someone like Becky comes along as a role, of course I am going to do that, because I’ve never seen someone like her on the screen before," Erin said of her latest role.
"I want to work and do good work. I don’t want to do things that aren’t right. If you’re not inspired, then what’s the point?" she added.
