Netflix hit The Crown is currently filming in St Andrews as the actors have been seen recreating Prince William's arrival to university alongside then-Prince Charles.
Prince William met his now-wife Kate Middleton at the Fife town's historic uni, where they lived together in student housing before beginning a relationship. Actor Ed McVey, 21, who will play the prince throughout his late teens and early twenties, was seen filming scenes for the show in St Andews this week.
The father and son were welcomed by crowds in the town during the visit more than two decades ago and were photographed walking around the campus. Dominic West, who will reprise his role as Charles in the Netflix show, was spotted strolling through the Scots town alongside Ed as they recreated William's university arrival.
Several roads have been closed as filming continues to take place over the next few days in the area. The pair were seen filming in the Fife town's North Street, with scores of extras holding Union flags and Saltires in front of the historic St Salvator's Chapel.
Film crews were seen capturing cars, carrying both characters, along the street and also the pair taking part in a royal walkabout. Elizabeth Debicki will reprise her role as Diana, Princess of Wales, with Imelda Staunton continuing as Queen Elizabeth II and Jonathan Pryce as the late Duke of Edinburgh.
William and Charles were welcomed at the university for a visit in 2001 before the future King embarked on his studies at the Scottish campus. Prince William - who studied history of art before switching to geography - wore a navy jumper over the top of a shirt, along with a pair of jeans and boots, for the outing.
While Charles sported a blue shirt, a striped blazer, and white pants. On-set photos from The Crown filming sees Ed and Dominic recreating the original outfits as they tour the university grounds.
The most recent season of the show focused on the marriage breakdown of Charles and Diana and the leaked phone calls between Charles and Camilla. The Crown is currently filming its sixth season - which is expected to be the last - will follow the Royal Family from the mid nineties until the early noughties.
The upcoming season is expected to cover various aspects of their lives from that period, including the death of the late Princess Diana in 1997 and the aftermath of it.
It's been reported that Prince Harry's Nazi uniform scandal will also feature in the new season of the hit show. In January 2005, the Duke of Sussex attended a friend’s fancy dress-themed birthday party in a Nazi uniform, complete with swastika armband.
Meg Bellamy, 19, who is playing Kate in the streaming service's popular series, has also been seen filming scenes around St Andrews.
