The Coronation: King Charles' sweet gesture for Kate Middleton days ahead of event

Kate Middleton has been a member of the royal family for over a decade and throughout that time the Princess of Wales has enjoyed a close relationship with our King.

To help her welcome at Charles' Coronation this weekend, he has now invited Kate's entire family to the huge event. Kate's parents Carole and Michael will be there, along with her sister Pippa and brother James, reports the Mirror.

After her royal wedding in 2011, Charles affectionately described her as his “darling daughter-in-law”. His close relationship extends to her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

"They are the family of our future queen, so it's right that they should be there," a source to the Daily Mail.

And it won't be the first time that the Middletons have attended a significant royal event. Carole and Michael enjoyed the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Party last June, before paying their respects at the funeral and committal service in September.

In 2011, Charles was overcome watching his eldest son tie the knot and gave a tear-jerking speech about the couple in Buckingham Palace. He is said to have described Kate as like the daughter he never had and said: "We are lucky to have her."

For those hoping to celebrate the Coronation in Bristol, there is plenty going on. The ceremony will be screened live from Westminster Abbey in London at around 11am. You can watch live on an open-air screen in the Bristol & Bath Science Park, which is free to enter on Saturday and Sunday.

There are a number of street parties planned in neighbourhoods all around the city with Bristol City Council revealing a list of 64 streets that have applied for road closures over the long weekend of the Coronation. Millions across the UK will be joining in with the Big Lunches, with many hosted in communities in Bristol.
