Iowa’s women’s basketball team packed the university’s football stadium, Kinnick Stadium, on Sunday for its exhibition game vs. DePaul.
As of Thursday, the Hawkeyes sold over 52,000 tickets to the event, which is over three times the amount that can fit in the Carver-Hawkeye Arena (capacity 15,500).
Seeing the college football stadium with a basketball court on the field, filled with Hawkeyes fans in the stands was quite the sight. The stadium wasn’t fully sold out as the court was placed on just one end zone, making it hard to see the game from the other side of the field.

It was a record-size crowd:

The crowd was electric during the Hawkeyes’ introductions before the game. Of course, star Caitlin Clark was announced last, sparking a loud applause from the audience.

The national runners-up also participated in the Hawkeye Wave, which is when the team and fans turn to UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital to wave to the patients, a tradition started by the football team in 2017.
