The contract talks held with key Swansea City trio and when a decision on their futures will actually be made

Swansea City will hold further contract discussions with key players once the January transfer window has concluded.

The current deals of defender Kyle Naughton, goalkeeper Ben Hamer and midfielder Korey Smith all expire in the summer.

The trio have made 66 appearances between them in all competitions under Russell Martin so far this term - such has been their importance in what is a youthful looking squad.

And head coach Martin says the club's owners are keen to fully assess the state of the squad once the winter window has passed before handing any experienced player fresh terms.

"We've spoken to all of them about where we're at. All of them are fine, they're comfortable," said Martin.

"The owners' prerogative is just to wait a little bit longer to see the second half of the season, who we bring in in January and how it affects those guys and the team.

"I think especially when you get a little bit older in football it's to be expected that you have less length in your contracts and something you have to deal with as you get a little bit older.

"All of them are comfortable, Korey has been fantastic in the last couple of games. Naughts is just Naughts and Ben Hamer has played brilliantly, so they just have to keep going and I'm sure they'll be totally fine."

The Swans are keen to see Smith and Naughton sign one-year extensions while Hamer has an option for an additional 12 months in his current deal.

Youngsters Dan Williams and Lincoln Mcfayden have recently put pen to paper on new deals with the club - who are also open to signing Cyrus Christie on a permanent basis in the summer when his Fulham contract expires.

The January transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday, January 31.
