The club night where you pay with food instead of buying a ticket is back

A charity club night where you pay in with donated food instead of a ticket is happening next weekend. Food 4 Thought will be taking up residence at Six Trees in Trafford Park for a one-day festival on June 3.

Organised by the people behind the long-running Manchester party Hit & Run, you can turn up and ‘pay’ in non-perishables. So that’s anything from tins of beans to pot noodles to toiletries and toothpaste.

The goods are then collected on the same day, taken to the Salford Foodbank and then will be distributed across the city. Last year, the event collected over 700kg of food and nearly £5000 for good causes.

“We hope to top both those totals this year; and with your help we can,” said organised and Hit & Run founder Rich Reason. “Greater Manchester’s foodbanks are incredibly stretched, with demand far-outstripping supply; sadly, this initiative and others like it are needed more and more.”

The party kicks off at 2pm, with DJs including Benny L & NV, Dub Phizix, Emperor, Glxy, En:Vy, Biome, Fox, Kaz, Sl8r, Strategy And Stxylo, winding up at 3am. And as it’s the day of the historic City versus United Cup Final, everything will stop for the match.

The game will be played on big screens in the venue, with the party kicking back off immediately afterwards. Food 4 Thought has been a fixture since 2015, when it threw its first party at Antwerp Mansions.
