Chemistry is all around us, sometimes in ways we might not be aware of. Chemicals are part of many everyday objects we use – from household appliances like dishwashers and washing machines, to packaging, electronic devices, and stoppers for medicine bottles. 

Electric vehicles (EVs) provide a great example of the wide-ranging role chemistry plays in our lives, with multiple chemical products coming together to create an EV. They’re also at the heart of a fast-growing market. In 2021, 6.6 million EVs were sold worldwide – more than twice the number sold in 2020.
