With the cost of living crisis hitting families hard, the increase in fuel prices this summer will not be a welcomed sight for motorists.
The RAC have issued a warning that fuel prices could hike to £2 per-litre in a few months time, with the cost of filling up a family car reaching the £100 mark.
Prices at some garages across Edinburgh and the Lothians have already seen a huge increase in recent weeks, with one in West Lothian already nearing the £2 per-litre mark.

With that being said, and motorists scouting out the cheapest place to fill up in their area, we have compiled a list of the current cheapest stations for both petrol and diesel.
According to petrolprices.com, there are still some locations across Edinburgh and the Lothians that offer a reasonable price for fuel, most being the pumps at supermarket garages, as was the case shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the last time that prices hiked dramatically.
For those that pay attention to fuel prices and tend to shop around to find the best deal, it will be no surprise to find that Costco, in Loanhead, is currently the cheapest destination for unleaded petrol, coming in at 164.9 pence per-litre.
While Costco offer bargain bulk-buy deals, it may also be worth stopping by to fill up your car on the way out, as it is four pence cheaper than the second location on the list.
Morrisons on Ferry Road is second, with a price of 168.7 pence per-litre at the moment, putting up a reasonable price, but nowhere near as cheap as Costco.
Third and Fourth are both Sainsbury's fuel garages, with those in Blackhhall and Cameron Toll also offering motorists a decent rate in exchange for unleaded petrol. Blackhall's prices are currently 168.9 pence, with Cameron Toll one pence more expensive at 168.9.
Fifth at the moment is the Gulf station in Liberton, with their price currently 169.9 pence per-litre, the same as Sainsbury's at Cameron Toll shopping centre.
In terms of diesel, that is where the price hike is more noticeable. With what used to be relatively similar prices compared to petrol, diesel is the fuel that is almost touching the £2 per-litre barrier.
Costco remains at the top of the tree for diesel prices, and once again, it remains four pence cheaper than anywhere else.
The price of diesel at Costco is currently 174.7 pence per-litre, with Sainsbury's Straiton coming second at 178.9 pence.
Tow Morrisons stores, on Ferry Road and Granton, are the current third and fourth cheapest out there, both with prices of 179.7 pence.
Sainsbury's Longstone, Murrayfield and Blackhall are all charging the same price for diesel at the moment, at 179.9 pence per-litre. Gulf at Liberton and Morrisons at Moredun are also in this category.
If you look at the opposite end of the scale, both Esso garages in Dalkeith and Willowbrae are currently charging the most for diesel, at 188.9 pence per-litre. A Shell garage just outside Broxburn, West Lothian is charging almost £2 already for both petrol and diesel, both sitting at 196.9 pence.
