The Chase's Paul Sinha issues apology as he says player 'will lose job' after remark

The Chase's Paul Sinha said a player would lose her job after an answer on today's show.

The Sinnerman was testing his wits against four new quizzers on Wednesday's edition of the popular ITV game show. Bradley Walsh returned to host and welcomed Jez, Lydia, Kai and Hayley on the latest programme.

The team's bid to win some cash got off to a great start when Jez booked his place in the Final Chase with £5,000. Paul fought back as he proceeded to eliminate both Lydia and Kai.

Hayley from Cambridge was up in seat four and the 37-year-old worked as a housemistress at a boarding school. She earned £4,000 in an impressive cashbuilder, but Paul joked she would be out of a job after one of her incorrect answers.

Bradley asked: "Drop, cover and hold on is safety advice during drills for which natural occurrences?" Hayley responded "fire" when the correct answer was "earthquakes".

Paul was in hysterics as he referenced the response. He said: "That was a decent performance as they were some very tough questions. I'm sorry to tell you that you have lost your job running the fire drill at your boarding school. I don't know if you know this, but hold on is probably not the best instruction."

Hayley took the higher amount of £55,000 as she wanted to fund a trip down the River Nile. However, it proved to be too ambitious as The Sinnerman eliminated the player.

Jez built up 15 steps in the last round, but he left empty-handed when Paul caught him with 27 seconds remaining.
