The Chase's Mark Labbett, aka The Beast, brutally axed from show's US version

The Chase star Mark Labbett has been axed from the show's US version.

Mark, who is known to viewers as The Beast, revealed he is "gutted" after he was never invited back as a chaser on the series.

The 56-year-old star participated in the ABC channel series, but confirmed to fans that a new line-up was selected - and he wasn't in it.

Mark shared his disappointment online, and when asked by a fan if he was not reappearing due to contact reasons, he said: "No they just didn't renew me. No reason was offered."

He shared the news after The Chase's US account tweeted: "New season. New Chasers.

"Victoria Groce, Brandon Blackwell, and Buzzy Cohen join Brad Rutter and James Holzhauer on May 3 when #TheChase returns."

Mark responded to the account, saying: "Gutted to not be invited back but really excited at the new lineup. Am expecting Brandon and Victoria to wow America :)."

The TV star added: "They will be fantastic :) Bon chance!"

However Mark has been busy filming a new series for The Chase UK.

He recently posted a snap of him and Shaun 'Dark Destroyer' Wallace as they larked around together on set.

The star teased: "Be afraid, be very afraid :)" tagging in his 61-year-old co-star.

Mark has been making the headlines recently after he lost a whopping ten stone.

The quiz star managed to shed the huge amount of weight in small steps, admitting it really started through the coronavirus lockdown.

Mark has been on a mission to lose weight for years after reaching 29st at his peak.

It got to the point where he was diagnosed as being diabetic and having skin that didn't heal on his legs properly.

He managed to lose some weight here and there over the next few years but he admitted it was just before lockdown that he started losing weight dramatically.

Mark said: "Several factors came together nicely and the weight has just fallen off. The principal thing has been running after a hyperactive three year old in lockdown when the nurseries were shut.

"Instead of going to the fridge for a bit of late-night snacking all I could do was just collapse on a heap on the bed."

Mark changed up his diet and instead of eating 'pub meals', he swapped this for a high protein diet as well as reducing the amount of sugar he consumes.
