The Chase's Bradley Walsh taken aback by Merseyside player's 'unusual' jackpot plan

Bradley Walsh was taken aback by a Merseyside player's "unusual" plan for how they would spend their jackpot prize.

The 62-year-old presenter welcomed four new quizzers on Tuesday's edition of the ITV game show. Lesley, Scott, Ian and Upasana were testing their wits against Shaun Wallace in a bid to win a cash prize.

The team put in a strong showing as Lesley and Scott both booked their spot in the Final Chase with £5,000 each. Ian was up in seat 3 and the 43-year-old hailed from Merseyside.

Bradley was surprised when Ian revealed his plan if he won the jackpot. He said: "I'm a budding entomologist. I love insects and spiders. If I won some money, I'd like to buy a really big tarantula."

The host shot back: "That's a first on the show. Let's get you a tarantula."

Ian failed to get any answers correct on his cash-builder meaning he was competing to book his place in the Final Chase without adding to the overall cash haul. The quizzer settled his nerves and successfully navigated his way past The Chaser to join Lesley and Scott in the final round.

Upasana also progressed past The Dark Destroyer and the team were competing for an overall £15,000. They built up 16 steps but were caught with 15 seconds remaining - meaning they left empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on Monday on ITV and the ITV Hub
