The Chase's Bradley Walsh 'speechless' over discovery in new show Egypt's Cosmic Code

Bradley Walsh said making new show Bradley Walsh: Egypt's Cosmic Code was full of emotion after he made a “sad” discovery.

The Chase host, 64, jetted off to Egypt for the three-part series airing on Sky History in search of answers to some of ancient history's biggest mysteries.

For the Watford-born star this was a dream gig due to his long-time "fascination" with the pyramids and described getting to see it all up close was “truly magical”.

He was rendered “speechless” however when he visited the tomb of famous ruler Tutankhamun.

Speaking to Bella magazine, he explained: "The boy was only nine when he became king, he had advisers, all those people, he's trying to run this entire country.

"Does he make good decisions? It doesn't matter, he's a kid, he's a boy.

"And when I saw him lying there all those years later, away from his artefacts he was buried with, and thousands of people pass by and not one of them is his family,” the dad-of-two continued.

"He’s on his own, just lying there and I found that really moving. Don't forget he had a wife and kids, but now he's all on his own."

He went on to say he felt "very very sorry" for the pharaoh.

"I find it a shame to be on your own after all those years still and not have anyone to say, 'How you doing son, what you up to?' he added to the publication.

"I just find find it very very sad and it did render me speechless."

Walsh has been a fixture on ITV quiz show The Chase for 16 years.

Following the news that he was expanding his horizons with the Egypt show, whispers began to swirl that he was planning to leave.

While he maintains that he isn’t going anywhere, speculation was rife with a list of potential successors revealed, including his own son Barney Walsh and ITV regular Stephen Mulhern.
