The Chase's Bradley Walsh fumes at contestant over 'inexplicable' wrong answer

Bradley Walsh was left stunned after one contestant on The Chase stole the show, but not for the right reasons.

Competitors Wendy, Jack, Susheel, and Neil took to the stage to take on chaser Shaun Wallace in the latest episode, but things didn't go quite as well as they might have hoped for one of them.

When Neil took to the board for his turn with the grizzled quizzer, he was given one question which many would have considered to be something of a gift.

As the question popped up, host Bradley Walsh asked: "'Be he alive, or be he dead, I'll grind his bones to make my bread' is a repeated line in which fairy tale?"

The options given were Jack and the Beanstalk, Hansel and Gretel, and Little Red Riding Hood.

Contestant Neil was embarrassed as he realised his mistake (ITV)

But despite the answer being fairly clear, with Jack and the Beanstalk being the source of the famous line from the monstrous Giant, Neil instead guessed Little Red Riding Hood

When the answer inevitably popped up as wrong, host Bradley Walsh was left deeply exasperated by the unexpectedly incorrect answer.

Bradley, puzzled by the answer, said: "You've inexplicably put Little Red Riding Hood."

A puzzled Neil asked him: "That might be wrong, do you think?"

Neil's teammate was not impressed by the error (ITV)

The host exclaimed: "Wrong? Wrong? I've got four-year-olds screaming their head off at the telly right now! Your kidding me"

Neil's teammates were wide-eyed in disbelief at the incorrect answer, which anyone familiar with the popular children's story featuring magic beans, giants, and golden geese will know.

However, fairytales were clearly not Neil's strong suit, with the chaser gaining a square on him after the disastrous wrong answer.

This is not the first time that host Bradley Walsh has been left stunned by contestants on the show.

Previously, the host had to tell off one of his contestants for talking after she returned to her seat following a round with the chaser.

The obvious correct answer was revealed (ITV)

Contestant Sarah, ironically herself a teacher, could be heard talking as Walsh was trying to present, saying: "We’ve gone low, we’ve hardly got any money, but we've got her back - I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show like it."

In a manner mimicking that of a classroom teacher, the open-mouthed host waited for them to finish and sheepishly turn back to him before commenting: "Don’t ask me what’s going on, I haven’t got a clue I’ve never made a show like this one.

"I mean you’re so interruptive the lot of you - it’s like being at school."

Despite herself being a teacher, Sarah appeared to be the chatterbox starting every discussion to the chagrin of both the host and chaser, neither of whom could believe their ears.
