The Chase's biggest ever wins including Scouser who dominated the show

Loyal fans of The Chase will be familiar with the excitement of possible big wins on the show, and viewers love it most when a solo player goes head-to-head and takes home the cash.

And it is even better when it is a huge prize. Some contestants call it a walk in the park whereas others are knocked out of the game before they meet the final round. The biggest road bumps are in the form of the Chasers - Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, or Darragh Ennis.

Even if a player manages to have a relatively easy time against the questions, they're typically no match for the incredible trivia knowledge the Chasers possess. An easy way out is offered to players in the form of a smaller cash prize and a step closer to home but there's no fun in that.

On the flip side of that is the Chaser sometimes more than doubling an offer in an attempt to close the gap and sometimes, contestants just manage to get away with it. A mixture of good trivia knowledge and a cheeky step towards a larger jackpot has often resulted in some of the most nail-biting games that make The Chase history.

Biggest ever solo win on The Chase

The Chase is hard enough in a team of four so the prospect of a one-man army must feel daunting. That being said, no task was too big for 20-year-old Eden defeated Darragh Ennis, who ended up winning a whopping £75,000.

The trainee underwriter from Hertfordshire built up 18 steps on his own in The Final Chase and successfully executed four pushbacks to win the huge cash prize. He said: "I suppose a car would be nice. But nothing snazzy. Just anything with four wheels."

Eden not only won the highest solo prize on The Chase, but host Bradley Walsh confirmed it was the biggest single win in daytime history.

The highest amount ever won on The Chase

The team's £100,000 win is the highest ever awarded on a daytime television show (ITV)

With a packed house, a group of four managed to pull off a £100,000 win, averaging out as £25,000 each. Anne Hegerty was the chaser at the helm that day and only managed a measly 14-step pushback in the final round.

Bradley Walsh labelled her as "Frosty knickers" after an unusually poor showing enabled the group to walk away with one of television's biggest daytime wins ever.

A trio takes home a whopping £90,000 on The Chase

A team of three managed to bank a massive £90,000 cash prize after a nail-biting episode saw them only just "scrape by." Sean Wallace was at fault this time he dropped the ball only two steps away from catching the players.

A team of two win a 'life-changing' amount of money on The Chase

Jonny and Lyndsey defeated The Sinnerman to win a massive £80,000 (ITV)

Jonny and Lyndsey put in a show-stopping performance in the Final Chase to beat Paul Sinha and take home a huge £40,000 each. Paul admitted he wasn't too keen on his own efforts that day but wished the pair well regardless in a showing of good sportsmanship.

The pair managed to split the £80,000 win after a successful 16 steps and five pushbacks.

A Scouser slays "The Beast" to win £24,000 on The Chase

James McGregor was the star player of his team, acting as a force to be reckoned with as he helped build a huge 22-step lead against the Chaser. The Mossley Hill native appeared back in 2018.

The Scouser lied on the show about what he would spend his winnings on to keep it a surprise that his actual reason was to buy an engagement ring to propose to his girlfriend. His team won a staggering £32,000 which was split into £8,000 each.

Biggest ever amount won on The Chase: Celebrity Special

The Chase's celebrity special is held in order to raise money for the players' chosen charities. Brainboxes Rachel Riley and Kirsty Gallacher took home an eye-watering £160,000 for Soccer Aid back in 2018 after defeating Shaun Wallace. comedian Dane Baptiste, presenter Anita Rani and sports broadcaster Mark Pougatch also won £120,000 for their charities in 2020.
