The Chase Mark Labbett's savage joke as he faces former student

Mark Labbett competed against a familiar face today in the latest episode of The Chase. The team of contestants decided to play against The Beast, and one of them was actually one of his former students.

Before his ITV fame, the chaser worked as a maths and PE supply teacher in Wales. And Neil, an HR officer from Wales, revealed to presenter Bradley Walsh that he was one of his old 6th form maths students.

"It will be interesting to see who teaches who a lesson," he said.

Neil, 39, took part in The Chase hoping to increase his wedding and honeymoon fund. Mark seemed to recognise him instantly, however his first words to him were savage.

"Are you here to quiz or hand in that piece of homework you still owe me from 18 years ago," he joked, before adding that Neil was "bright, but not super bright as I can't remember him very well".

Mark previously said on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? that some of his former students would call him by monster names such as Hulk or Godzilla, YorkshireLive reports.

Neil successfully played for £3,000. He reached the final, hoping to win a decent £7,000 - but he and teammate Joe didn't answer enough questions to win the sum.

The Chase will be on ITV tomorrow at 5pm.
