Mark previously revealed that he has been on a mission to lose weight for years, after hitting 29 stone at his heaviest and being ‘on the verge of getting high blood pressure pills’ . The 6ft 6in-tall star, who now weighs 19 stone, said that his weight loss was kick-started by the Covid lockdown.

“The principal thing has been running after a hyperactive three-year-old in lockdown when the nurseries were shut,” the father-of-one joked. According to The Express , Mark also changed up his diet to reduce sugar and increase protein rather than opting for ‘pub meals’, which helped the weight to fall off.

Reflecting on the way his life has changed in the last decade, Mark told Alison and Dermot: “I’ve gone from being a very overweight maths teacher who was going to be in the same room for the rest of my career, to - I’ve gone around the world on [The Chase], I’ve got a lovely son now. Who knew?”
