The Chase viewers were in hysterics during Wednesday’s instalment of the popular ITV gameshow, as a contestant appeared on the programme in an eye-catching outfit.
The team of Claire, 24, Debbie, 36, Steve, 40, and Colin faced off against Paul Sinha, or The Sinnerman, for a run at a large cash prize.
But as the show got underway, The Chase fans were quick to notice Colin’s unusual get-up as he went first during the cash-builder.
The 59-year-old stepped out from behind the panel to speak with host Bradley Walsh and gave the studio a look at the illustrious Union Jack waistcoat and bow-tie he was wearing.
Fans at home were left laughing at the wardrobe choice, with one tweeting: “This guy definitely has ‘Rule Britannia’ as his mobile ringtone.”
Another joked: “Did anyone stand up and salute when Colin came on?”
A third viewer chimed: “Is he wearing that waistcoat for a bet?”
Another social media user wrote: “Colin, Colin, Colin…please do tell where you do your clothes shopping.”
“You sometimes need a Colin cos normal is boring,” another fan posted alongside a string of crying laughing emojis.
Colin told Bradley if he won on the quiz show, he intended to put his money towards fixing up his Land Rover, which he uses to help take doctors, nurses and patients to hospital when it snows.
Colin racked up £7,000 during his cash builder and as Chaser Paul walked out into the studio, he began to spout poetry he had written before the show.
Colin said: “Maybe it’s Paul, the man in the suit, so long as he wins you don’t give a hoot.
“Maybe it will be Ann sat in the chair, who can freeze the contestants with one loving stare."
He continued: “Or maybe it’s Sean so suave and so cool, take it from me, he’s nobody’s fool. But as Sean would say, Brad let’s do this. As long as we take the win, we won’t take the mickey.”
He then added: “Couldn’t find a rhyme for the last bit.”
The Chaser replied with his own savage rhyme, saying: “We can all do poetry, very good performance, seven grand, but good Lord that waistcoat should be banned.”
Colin had a poetic response at the ready, saying: “Not a chance my friend, this is going to be your end.”
The Chase fans again took to Twitter in response, saying: “Colin and his waistcoat. . . I wonder if Southgate will be wearing it at the World Cup. Loved his cheesy poem though.”
Another wrote: “I love this fella,” as another wrote: “Oh God, he’s spouting poetry now!”
