The Chase fans bewildered as contestant 'forgets' clothing item

Fans of The Chase were bewildered and confused while watching tonight's episode.

Contestants Hilary, Ben, Alex and John went up against chaser Mark Labbett in hopes of going home with a share of a cash prize.

But while the players had their eyes on the money, the fans had their eyes on Alex's feet.

Taking to Twitter, viewers shared their concerns the 30-year-old wasn't wearing any shoes.

One user said: "Hope Alex wins some money, she needs to get herself some shoes #thechase"

Jasmine said: "Is Alex not wearing any shoes or are they just really flat?? #TheChase"

Chrissie said: "Did she forget her shoes??#TheChase"

Alex responded to people's Tweets as she said: "I made the mistake of wearing flesh coloured shoes" followed by a monkey covering its eyes emoji.

While the creative director, from Droitwich, appeared to have not brought her shoes, she still definitely brought her A game as she went head to head with Mark and eventually made her way back to the team after successfully adding £7,000 to the prize pot.

Unlucky for fellow player Ben, a 19-year-old from Wigan, he went home empty handed after being caught by the chaser.

Tonight's show also saw 74-year-old Hilary and 56-year-old John add £8,000 each to the jackpot.

As chaser Mark watched the players successfully go through, he said: "In theory its shaping up to be a super team but somehow I don't think so."

The three players made it through to the final chase playing for a total of £23,000.

Unfortunately Mark caught the team with just three seconds remaining in a very tense game and they all went home empty handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
