Oops.
To be fair, the Boston Celtics’ social media team may not have known that a three-team deal that didn’t involve Marcus Smart was going to fall through and that one involving the guard who played all nine of his seasons in Boston would pop up.
Heck, it’s just a coincidence that the Celtics’ Twitter feed had a Smart hustle highlight reel up on Wednesday morning, and to their credit, it’s still up on Thursday morning with fans waking up to the news of the Smart trade.
But it backfired and fans are making a lot of jokes about it on Thursday:
