Brendan Rodgers praised Maik Nawrocki for his performance despite Celtic falling to a 3-2 home defeat against Rangers.
Nawrocki, who has struggled for minutes due to injury and competition for places since arriving at Parkhead from Legia Warsaw during the summer of 2023, was thrown into the high-stakes clash on Sunday afternoon.
But amid the challenging circumstances, Rodgers was impressed by the 24-year-old’s display and his ability to last the 90 minutes.
“I thought he done really well,” the Celtic manager said. “I said that to him afterwards in the changing room. There weren’t too many highlights for us. But certainly for him, for a guy that’s not played virtually for a year, it shows you how well he’s trained and how professional he’s been.
“So I thought he done really, really well to last the game.”
Nawrocki had only made two substitute appearances this season, and it was his first outing in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic were without both Auston Trusty and Liam Scales due to injury.
