The victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential race was celebrated by a wide circle of celebrities and public figures. Through messages and videos, personalities like Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui, Myrka Dellanos, Mel Gibson, Joe Exotic, and the recent 'La Casa de los Famosos' winner Maripily Rivera expressed their excitement over Trump's upcoming second term.
Social media was quickly filled with posts as Trump's victory was called early on November 6 after he secured the 270 electoral votes needed to assume office.
Mel Gibson, star of classic films like 'Lethal Weapon' and 'Braveheart, who has been involved in different controversies throughout his career,' shared a brief message with the hashtag #Trump2024 and the phrase "God bless America," which drew supportive comments from many of his followers.
Kanye West, currently known as Ye and who has supported Trump in the past, has not commented publicly on Trump's win, as his Instagram currently only promotes his new album 'Bully.' Ye previously ran for president but later reaffirmed his support for Trump after his loss to Joe Biden.
Elsewhere, Maripily Rivera, who openly backed Trump during the campaign, did not congratulate him directly but celebrated her friend Jennifer González's win in Puerto Rico's gubernatorial race.
Caitlyn Jenner also remained active on Instagram, posting messages in favor of Trump, sharing recent episodes from Joe Rogan's podcast (another Trump supporter), and celebrating the incoming administration in an Instagram story.
Actor Zachary Levi showed his enthusiasm for Trump's victory as well. Previously outspoken about his political stance, Levi shared a series of Instagram stories about the election outcome and the benefits he believes it will bring to the U.S.
Another vocal Trump supporter is Mexican actor and politician Eduardo Verástegui, who campaigned heavily on social media to encourage Latinos to vote Republican. After the results were announced, Verástegui shared a congratulatory message on Twitter, stating that Trump's return to power is beneficial not only for the U.S. but also for Mexico and Latin America.
"Today, not only does the U.S. win but so does Mexico and all of Hispanic America. We are brothers, and despite attempts to divide us, the Mexican and Hispanic community's role in the U.S., as well as the importance of trade, is vital for both countries," he wrote.
Other notable Trump supporters included Mike Tyson, blogger and boxer Jake Paul, and entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, who were all part of the wave of support for Trump's campaign.
