Haley and Hanna Cavinder announced on Twitter that they will forego their fifth and final year of eligibility in college.
The twins said in a statement they will “start a new chapter in their lives,” but did not disclose any specifics about their next steps. But in an Instagram post, the two posted several photos throughout their basketball careers with a caption saying, “Thank you basketball,” suggesting the two may be pursuing endeavors outside of the sport.
Between their individual and joint social media accounts, the Cavinder Twins have garnered over five million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter -- more than any other college athlete, male or female.
According to On3’s valuation metric, both of them have a project valuation of $920,000 per season. Only Angel Reese, the 2023 NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, has a higher valuation than the Cavinder Twins, bolstered by LSU’s national championship just over a week ago.
The Cavinder Twins also had a successful NCAA tournament, helping the University of Miami Hurricanes reach the Elite Eight for the first time in school history, before losing to Reese and the LSU Tigers.
