Two fish and chip shops in Cardiff, will open their doors on Christmas Day, feeding any homeless, lonely or vulnerable people for free.
Victoria Fish Bar in Whitchurch , wrote on Facebook, that they would be opening for three hours on Christmas, after seeing the state of homelessness in Cardiff .
At the time of writing, it has had over 14,000 likes, and 13,000 shares.
Muhammad Nazakat, 46, owner of the shop, said: "Homeslessness has been on a rise recently, in the city centre, you see al lot of people on the floor and this has been getting worse and worse.
"We thought it would be a great idea to help them directly by offering them a warm meal and someone to speak to.
"The reason we are doing this is because the community has given so much to our family, we thought we have to give back, even though we are doing what we are doing, we can never repay what they have done."
Although they were expecting the post to be shared on Facebook, Muhammad said he didn't expect it go as viral as it did.
He hopes this will see an increase in the people that attend on the day.
He said: "We were expecting it to be shared quite a lot, but when we woke up after posting it, we were absolutely shocked. We never expected this in a million years. But we are happy it happened as it means the word has been spread out more, so hopefully more people to serve on Christmas day.
"We believe it can make people's Christmas', this time of year is the best for some, but can be the most loneliest and depressing for some others. Statistically around this time of year suicide is at highest, one of the reasons being depression caused by loneliness, we hope we can help alleviate that."
Being a Muslim, Muhammad doesn't celebrate Christmas, but he says his religion teaches him to give to everyone, no matter their race or religion.
He added: "Islam teaches us to give, not only to Muslims, but to everyone despite race, colour or religion. The prophet gave to everybody, so we are trying to follow his way. Our religion emphasises giving above above most things."
The chippy will be serving favourites such as cod and chips, chicken breast, sausages and more. Anyone who is homeless, lonely or vulnerable, can go to the shop for a free meal.
The shop is located on 41 Old Church Road, in Whitchurch and will be open from 12-3pm .
Users commented on the post commending staff at the chip shop for opening up for such a vital cause.
One user, wrote: "It's lovely to see that some shops think of people instead of profit, it's not all about money it shows that there are good, kind and special people in this world."
Another wrote: "Absolutely incredible, you are truly wonderful human beings and you make me proud to be Welsh."
The Chippy, on St Mary Street in Cardiff , will also be open from 12-3pm .
Owner Tahir Majid, 47, said, homelessness is rife in the city centre and especially on St Mary Street.
The shop is usually open till the early hours of the morning and Tahir says they regularly see people sleeping in shop doors.
He said: "We have been in the city centre for over 25 years and we have seen how big homelessness has become. When I was growing up, it wasn't such a problem but now it is crazy.
"It's something we've never done before but we were keen to do our bit and help out. Over the last ten days or so, we've been telling the homeless people that we see, that we will be open.
"It's something my religion teaches me, to help out where we can and show compassion to others. I know there are lots of services on Christmas Day but this is an option for people.
"My staff will be coming in and we'll be serving hot meals to as many people as we can. They may be homeless, lonely, hungry whatever. We hope we can do our bit."
