We knew the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ creamsicle throwback uniforms were returning in 2023. We didn’t know they’d look so damn good.
The Buccaneers fired a shot across the NFL’s summer doldrums with a star-packed unveiling of their tribute to Buccaneer Bruce the franchise’s original kits. In a three-minute video narrated by Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks and with nods and cameos from Bucs legends past and present — Ronde Barber! A bar called Lee Roy’s in honor of Lee Roy Selmon! Uh, Bert Kreischer, for some reason! — Tampa Bay showcased the uniforms it wore from 1976 to 1996. And they look so, so fresh and clean.

Gorgeous. Tampa Bay will wear their old school uniforms in Week 6 for a showdown in Week 6 with the Detroit Lions. Given that 2023 looks like a rebuilding year — the Buccaneers’ current quarterback race appears to be a battle between Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask thanks to Tom Brady’s (second) retirement) — the return of creamsicle colors and Buccaneer Bruce might be this fall’s silver lining.
