Most NFL teams usually have an idea of who their starting quarterback will be in early August. Most NFL teams are not the hapless Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On Tuesday, Tampa Bay unveiled its first depth chart of the preseason. For the most part, no surprises. Mike Evans is WR1, Vita Vea is NT1, and so on and so forth. However, that changes when you reach the quarterback. Tampa Bay’s chart lists Baker Mayfield “OR” Kyle Trask under quarterback. That’s right — the Buccaneers have turned themselves into an indecisive college team because they have no one to write home about under center.
So instead of making a firm choice, it’s Mayfield OR Trask. Gold. Absolute gold.

Truthfully, I don’t know why the Buccaneers would invest so much energy in this decision, knowing a listing like this would make news. This retooling team isn’t going anywhere without a difference-making quarterback, and they’re still asking the wrong question. Every starting decision Tampa Bay makes should not be colored by Mayfield OR Trask. It should be Caleb Williams OR Drake Maye at the top of next spring’s NFL Draft.

People that followed depth charts during the Meyer/Day Ohio State era are familiar with this 😂 anyone who hasn’t seen it before may be somewhat confused https://t.co/UMOAcrioF2
