The Cleveland Browns are keeping former third round pick and wide receiver David Bell on the 53-man roster.
Bell is entering his third year with the team but missed the last half of the preseason with a quad injury. The minor injury made some speculate that the wide receiver could be a surprise cut today.
Bell’s fate with the team was never in doubt. He is extremely underappreciated. The Purdue product isn’t a spectacular athlete like many players. However, Bell is a reliable receiver who produces in the biggest moments.
Last year Bell had 14 receptions on 23 targets for 167 yards and three touchdowns. Nine of the receptions ended in a first down. Bell understands how to get open for quarterbacks. He spent his college career as the quarterback’s best friend and brought that skill to the NFL.
Bell will continue to grow his game with the Browns. The Browns have him under contract for at least another season.
