The Bridge aired two shock moments on Wednesday, June 23 as two contestants decided that their time on the competition should come to an end. Earlier in the episode, Crystal chose to quit the competition after having a tricky time in Vietnam.
In the Channel 4 series which clashes with ITV reality show Love Island, two teams go head-to-head and have to build a bridge over 1,000 feet of water in just 12 days to reach the cash which lies below a tower on an island between both beaches. But only one person from the winning team can take home the huge amount of money.
Following her exit, Crystal said that she is “excited to have a lovely hot shower". Jokingly, she also described how she was “excited to go for a poo in a lovely flushing toilet". Leaving the island, Crystal - who had been on Team North Beach before swapping to Team South Beach just before quitting - decided that the challenge was too much for her and she gave up on a chance to win £200,000.

Meanwhile, over on Team North Beach, Welsh star David chose to take £25,000, walking away from his teammates and leaving the competition of his own accord. He said that he made the decision for “himself and [his] family”. Despite being a “detriment” to the team, the group supported his decision. Little did they know, their feelings of admiration were about to change in an instant. The contestant, who is from Carmarthenshire, was previously called "savage", which you can read about here.
With the cash in his hand, David said that he’d “swim to Wales for 25 grand,” as he held the “life-changing” amount of money. Pulling the money out of a small box, he was shocked to discover that the money “comes at a price” and he still had a final task to complete before leaving the island. The note reads: “You must now destroy five sections of your team's bridge or you will go home empty-handed.”
Describing the challenge as “f***ing brutal”, David took an axe and began cutting up the bridge. His teammates watched on, helpless as AJ Odudu told them that they are not allowed to interject. In shock, the North Beach team said that they are “beyond annoyed” as David hacked away at the bridge.
Following his exit from the competition, David posted a photograph of himself on the show, to his Instagram. The viral TikTok star said: "Gotta do what you gotta do and put yourself first. To anyone who feels let down I apologise but I made this decision for myself and my family and not gamble it on a one in 16 chance"
