The Boys season 1 made a massive change from comics with game-changing twist

Spoiler warning for The Boys

The Boys has made waves since its release on Amazon Prime Video, but it's not entirely in keeping with what goes down in its source material.

The superhero series is based on the comic books of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, but contains a number of changes from the comics.

One of the biggest connects to the character of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his past with the characters of Homelander, A-Train and Billy's beloved wife Becca.

In the comics, Becca dies after giving birth to The Homelander’s baby.

The Seven’s leader rapes and kills Becca, and the thirst for revenge is what keeps Butcher going in his fight against the superheroes.

Shockingly, the twist of Becca's survival in the television series is completely new and an adaptational change.

In the series, Vought hid the revelation of her survival and her superhero child by Homelander a secret, leaving Butcher to learn to the truth at the series' end.

It had been suggested previously that superheroes biologically can’t reproduce, possibly making Homelander’s son by Becca the first in a new age of biologically produced super-beings.

This means that fans of the comics have no clue what will happen next with this particular plot line in the second season.

We can't wait to see where it goes next.

The Boys season 1 is available on Amazon Prime Video now.
