The Boys actor Chace Crawford starring in thriller Strobe

Chace Crawford is due to appear in the thriller Strobe

Chace Crawford is to star in ‘Strobe’.

‘The Boys’ star, 39, will appear in the Happy Place thriller alongside ‘Red Rocket’s' Suzanna Son in what will be director Taylor Cohen’s Hollywood debut, after he previously helmed music videos for artists like Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj.

Happy Place’s founder Tara Razavi told The Hollywood Reporter: "We’re incredibly excited to bring ‘Strobe’ to life as Taylor Cohen’s first feature film.

"Suzanna Son was a perfect creative fit, and we are so lucky to have her in the leading role. Taylor has been a key collaborator in our short-form projects for years, and his ability to craft visually stunning and emotionally resonant stories has always stood out.

"Now, he’s bringing that same innovative energy and style to ‘Strobe’ which, paired with Suzanna’s and the cast’s remarkable performances, will deliver a truly captivating cinematic experience."

While there is no release date for the picture yet, the flick - which will also feature ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’s' Laura Harrier and ‘Stranger Things’ actress Grace Van Dien - is centred on a high school senior (Son) who goes on an obsessive quest to track down a mysterious EDM artist.

Crawford is best known for his role as The Deep on Prime Video’s superhero show ‘The Boys’, and is currently gearing up for the fifth and final season of the series.

Reflecting on parting ways with his deranged superhero, Crawford admitted he wasn’t ready to leave the character behind and insisted he could do the programme "for another 10 years".

Speaking with W Magazine, he said: "I feel like I could do five more seasons, I love the character so much, but [showrunner Eric Kripke] knows best and there had been whispers about ending after five.

"It’s tough to know when to stick the landing in TV and you don’t want to overcook the storylines. It definitely will be sad. It’s been one of the greatest rides of my life, but I’m looking forward to going out with a bang."
