Thomas asks Hope a question in The Bold and the Beautiful recap for July 5, 2024.
The party continues at the Forrester Mansion, where Eric (John McCook) says they have a lot to celebrate. He offers another toast to Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) and Paris (Diamond White), and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) can see how much it’s hurting Hope (Annika Noelle). Thomas gets a text from Douglas, who is with Steffy and the family having fun. It makes Hope even more upset. Eric suggests that they give the couple some privacy and he’s looking forward to another wedding in the house.
Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) congratulates the happy couple again, telling Paris that it’s everything he’s ever wanted for her. He likes seeing her so happy. Thomas looks up and sees Hope as he hugs Paris. Brooke asks Hope if she’s doing ok, and she slips out while Thomas watches. Eric is in the middle of giving Paris a rundown of how to set up the wedding, but Thomas is clearly torn and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) can see it.
Brooke follows Hope outside and tells her she doesn’t have to stay. Hope says she can handle it but wishes Thomas hadn’t "blindsided" her. Brooke asks if she’s second-guessing her decision to turn down Thomas’ proposal.
Carter tells Paris and Thomas that he’d be honored to marry them. Thomas deflects and says they just started the planning process. Paris says she didn’t even think about getting married at Eric’s house until Thomas said it. He realizes he might have overstepped by not asking her first, but she’s just concerned about being safe and secure and connected to Thomas. But she’s not going to say no to having her wedding at one of the most beautiful homes in LA.
Eric tells Donna (Jennifer Gareis) and Ridge that it may be a fast engagement but Thomas is clearly in love. Donna asks Ridge if he’s talked to Thomas about his feelings for Hope and their feelings for each other. Donna says she feels for Hope, and Eric knows it’s going to be a big blow. Donna points out that Thomas and Hope are still in love. We can see over their shoulders and Thomas definitely looks conflicted.
Brooke feels terrible that Hope is at the party hearing all of this. Brooke presses her about rejecting the proposals. Hope insists that she wasn’t ready and her mother respects her for that. But if Thomas were to propose, would she accept? Brooke wonders if she would accept. Hope doesn’t think it matters since the woman he’s going to marry is Paris, not her. Hope thanks her mother for being there for her. She hopes she didn’t make too much of a scene when she left. Hope doesn’t understand how Thomas is engaged when their relationship just ended. She thinks she needs to say something to Thomas. Brooke warns her from talking to him until she calms down.
Ridge finds Paris and Thomas kissing in the living room. He asks if they’re coming down to the pool. He tells them that he couldn’t be happier for them before leaving. Once alone again, Paris tells Thomas she can’t wait to make it official and be his wife. She hurries off to the pool and he promises to follow, but he looks conflicted.
Ridge finds Brooke in the garden and asks how it went with Hope. Brooke says she’s hurting. Brooke understands why Thomas moved on but it’s painful for Hope to watch. Ridge points out that it didn’t have to be this way because Hope turned Thomas down.
Thomas thinks back to his proposal to Hope — the second one. He says it’s time for Hope to wear the ring. She says she can’t accept the proposal because she’s not ready. That’s when Hope walks in and interrupts his reverie. He says he knows she was hurt earlier and he hates that she’s upset. She begs him not to marry Paris.
Ridge points out that Hope was right to say no because she didn’t want to be married. But she has to accept that Thomas is moving on. Brooke is concerned about how fast he’s moving on. Ridge asks what Hope would say if Thomas asked her right now. Paris walks up and asks why Thomas isn’t at the pool.
Hope begs Thomas to slow down and think about what he’s doing. He says he needed space after she turned him down. He says Paris is good for Douglas, but she points out that they need to talk about Douglas together. She reminds him of the love they shared, but he says she hurt him when she turned him down so many times. She says she wasn’t ready for marriage but she wasn’t turning down the idea of being with him. All she’s asking is for him to not jump into a marriage so fast. Thomas asks how many times he’s supposed to be rejected and come back. "Ok, it wasn’t time then." He takes her hand. "Will you marry me, Hope? Will you be my wife?" She stares at him.
