The Bills Could Face The Toughest Possible Path To Super Bowl

The Buffalo Bills are playing as well as any team in the NFL. And after years of let-downs and heartbreak in the postseason, it is starting to feel like this could finally be the year that Josh Allen and company break through.

But in order to fulfill their dreams of making it to their first Super Bowl since 1993, they’ll likely have to go endure one of the toughest possible paths.

Bills Could Face Jackson, Mahomes In Consecutive Weeks

Thanks to their defeat of the Denver Broncos in the Wild Card round, the Bills will play host during their divisional matchup. That will be a contest against the visiting Baltimore Ravens, who feature the quarterback that Allen has been battling all season long for the right to be named league MVP.

Lamar Jackson is a two-time winner of the award, and has made a strong case for a third by having arguably the best season of his career. Combine his production with the continued success of running back Derrick Henry, and you have one of the toughest offenses to stop in the NFL.

And if the Bills are successful in winning that matchup, their tough stretch will likely have just begun. On the other side of the AFC is the Kansas City Chiefs, who would have to win their game against the Houston Texans for the right to play the winner of Buffalo and Baltimore.

Can Buffalo Exercise Their Postseason Demons?

But the Chiefs are 7.5 point favorites for next Sunday’s game, and it is widely assumed that they’ll be one of the teams vying for a Super Bowl spot on Championship Weekend.

If that is the case, and the Bills are there to greet them, it will be Buffalo that will have to reverse their fortunes in order to get to the big game. Patrick Mahomes has been the biggest thorn in the side of Buffalo’s efforts to reach the Super Bowl in recent years, with the Chiefs winning each of the three postseason matchups between the two sides since 2021. Josh Allen and company have been successful against Kansas City in the regular season, including handing the Chiefs their only loss in 2024, but have failed repeatedly when the games matter the most.

The game between Houston and Kansas City will be the first one played next weekend, scheduled to kickoff at 4:30PM Eastern on Saturday evening. The Bills and Ravens will wrap up the weekend with their kickoff scheduled for 6:30PM on Sunday. Buffalo is currently listed as a 1-point favorite.
