The Bill's DCI Jack Meadows is unrecognisable nearly 30 years on from the cop show debut.
Simon Rouse played the legendary character for 842 episodes and earned himself the title of one of ITV's longest-serving actors.
The actor, now 70, first stepped onto the set in 1990 and became a regular up until 2010.
His character was known for giving the job 100 per cent, which often put strain on his marriage throughout the soap.
The bobby drama was even moved to post-watershed when the storylines got a little darker and appeared to be a breeding ground for new actors to make their mark.
Keira Knightley, Sean Bean, Hugh Laurie, Russell Brand, Emma Bunton and Martin Freeman all appeared in the show at some point.
Although he's mostly known for his work as Jack, the actor has played many other roles in his time and turned his hand to theatre.
He toured the UK for the stage adaptation of The Full Monty as the role of Gerald.
He starred in stage roles in productions such as When We Are Married and The Bomb.
Simon also dipped his toe in another soap and appeared on Coronation Street as Rita's ex-flame Rusty as well as Len Danvers, a journalist in Broadchurch.
The Bill fans were devastated when the programme came to an end in 2010 after it had aired 2,425 episodes.
They were so upset by the show's ending that they created a petition for ITV to bring it back, but were not successful.
Although fans can still get their fix as the programme has been added to UKTV Play, which airs classic tv.
Simon's co-star PC Dave Quinnan, played by Andrew Paul, 60, is also looking incredibly different from his days in uniform.
During his time on the longest-running police series, Andrew was clean shaven but now the star has a shaven head and a beard.
Andrew had a number of storylines, including an affair with Jenny Delaney, who was his colleague George Garfield's girlfriend.
In a dramatic twist, Andrew was also stabbed that year and miraculously survived, but proving that some people never change, he was back to his cheating ways in 2000.
Andrew's character Dave had another affair with colleague Polly Page.
He left Sun Hill police station and made a dash for Walford where he played Maxwell Moon.
From EastEnders he joined the cast of Where The Heart Is as Billy Boothe.
His recent work includes Casualty and miniseries Les Miserables.
"I auditioned for Dave Quinnan in 1989 with several other actors. I’d done a guest role six months earlier," he said in a podcast.
"I saw the producers on a Thursday, got my script on Friday and began filming the following Monday together with a three-month contract that lasted 13 fantastic years."
He described his character as "complex" and said that he had been through a lot in his 13 years on the set.
