Kieran Trippier is back in contention for Newcastle United after recovering from a fractured metatarsal injury. The speedy recovery of the former Atletico Madrid star has delighted fans but it remains to be seen whether Howe uses him against Liverpool this weekend.
Trippier is itching to be back and has shown hunger and desire to be part of this season's strong finish. It was Trippier who effectively sparked the run of fine results in 2022 and the team have never looked back.
Speaking about Trippier's return today, Howe said: "Kieran and Callum Wilson are getting closer. I don't think they will be ready for this week.

"But Kieran has been back on the grass and trained with us. One session. Callum is not quite there yet but he is edging closer. He is doing a lot of hard work and we will be guided by the sports science team."
Asked whether they will play again this season, Howe added: "We definitely won't rush them back and we won't put them at risk but if they are fit and available, we will use them."
