Pontypridd is just like any other town and has seen some rather big changes over the last 10 years or so. It may only seem like yesterday, but it's incredible to think it's been over a decade since the end of the noughties.
Dominated by technological changes, the noughties saw the creation of social media platforms like Facebook, along with the Blu-Ray disc and the iPod.
The decade also saw the vast majority of people turn to Google for more and more help. And in 2008, the search engine operator began documenting parts of the UK with its Google Maps van.

We have taken a look back through the Google Maps Street View archives to remind you of just some of the changes seen here in Pontypridd.

And this is how it looked 10 years earlier.
The main thing that has changed in and around Pontypridd is the redevelopment of the old shopping precinct - Taff Vale Shopping Centre. As the following pictures show - a lot has changed.

Do you remember the Taff Vale Shopping Centre, that featured Rainbow Records and Happy Home Furnishings? Taff Street in Pontypridd used to be the heart of the town.

This is how it looks today, with the new Transport for Wales offices as well as the new library and gym.
