It appears Scotland is continuing the trend of people seeing strange objects in the sky after a bumper year last year. 22 Unidentified Flying Objects ( UFOs ) have been spotted so far this year across the country.
This follows almost 50 being recorded in 2021. The number of UFO reports, or UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena) as they are now referred to in official circles, to various organisations in Scotland has been recorded as 20 so far this year.
UFO Identified, an organisation created by Ufologist Ash Ellis, collated the sightings and examined the data in a bid to help create a better picture of what is going on in the skies above the UK.
The research recorded sightings so far this year all across the country, ranging from Glasgow all the way to Lerwick. Unsurprisingly, Scotland's biggest city has had the bulk of the reports with just over a quarter of them (six) being cited there.
Tallying reports from MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), BUFORA (British UFO Network) and NUFORC (National UFO Reporting Centre), as well as official reports submitted to Police Scotland, Ash and his team were able to pull together a list of some incredible sightings.
These include a translucent craft with lights at the front and back spotted in Bo'ness, a bright white orb spotted hovering above Edinburgh castle and a "missile-shaped" object moving at great speed over Glasgow.
