The best superhero movies: 25 great comic book films to watch in September 2024

A promo image for The Dark Knight, aka one of the best superhero movies, which shows Batman standing in front of a building with a burning bat logo on it.

Welcome to TechRadar's best superhero movies guide. Below, we've compiled a list of the 25 greatest comic book films, which – unsurprisingly – includes multiple entries Marvel and DC. There's even one offering from Pixar, too, but we're sure you can figure out which of the famous animation studio's movies has booked a spot in this article.

Determining what the best superhero movies are is subjective, so you might be disappointed to find that some of your top picks aren't present in this guide (don't worry, we'll be adding more entries in the months ahead). That's because each film needs to pass certain tests from our entertainment team. Indeed, they need to hold a critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes of 85% or higher (albeit not in order of lowest-rated to highest-rated), be a multi-billion dollar making movie, or have earned the approval of our writers. Of course, films that meet two or three of these criteria have a better chance of landing a spot on this list.

But we digress. Without further ado, here's our definitive guide on the best superhero movies, including where you can watch them on the world's best streaming services.
