The 'best' Scottish alpaca farm where you can meet and walk animals from just £5

A Scottish alpaca farm tucked away in the countryside has been called "the best day out" in rave online reviews.

Velvet Hall Alpacas is based in the Scottish Borders, between the picturesque towns of Peebles and Innerleithen in the heart of the stunning Tweed Valley.

The farm, owned by couple Stuart Ramsay and Jean McDonald, offers the chance for visitors to meet the beautiful animals up close and feed them. There are over 30 award-winning alpacas at the site, coming in a range of different colours.

Visitors can even embark on treks with the alpacas, walking with them across the beautiful Tweed Valley countryside through forests and hills. According to the farm, the animals are "adorable and love going out trekking", stating that "children and adults of all ages will fall in love with them as we have".

The Velvet Hall Alpacas website adds: "Our treks start mid-morning or early afternoon, so pick a time that suits you best and pre-book. First we introduce you to your alpaca and then we talk you through how to connect with them, it’s that easy.

"Once you’re happy, we set off on our trek and that means it’s time for you to take the lead and have fun along the way learning about these unique adorable animals.
