
Ramadan has kicked off, and many Londoners celebrated by gathering to attend the switching on of the light display in London’s West End last week. Muslims across the capital will be fasting from sunrise to sunset during this holy month.
With fasts ending just before 6pm, there’s no better way to break it than by visiting a great restaurant, and enjoying a delicious feast with friends and family. Thankfully London is brimming with plenty of places offering special Iftar menus. From well-known institutions to independent restaurants, here’s our round-up of the best places in London to enjoy Iftar this Ramadan.
Dishoom
Dishoom is welcoming people to break their fast with a curated Iftar menu priced at £35 per person. There is a choice between a meat, vegetarian and vegan option, all of which include much-loved Dishoom classics such as the okra fried, chaat, gunpowder potatoes, black daal, biiryanii and more. The menu is available at all Dishoom locations for the entirety of Ramadan.

Coya Mayfair
When you think of Ramadan, Peruvian fusion food doesn’t immediately spring to mind, but that’s why Coya’s Iftar menu is so brilliant. It offers guests the chance to break their fast with delicious olive oil-topped Mejool dates, flatbread and the soup of the day, followed by an elaborate tasting menu that’ll keep taste buds on their toes. This extensive menu offers a tapas-style selection of 6 starters, with dishes such as Shitake tacos and Wagyu steamed buns, followed by a choice of one main course and a pistachio & orange blossom cake for dessert. The starters alone are enough to satisfy, so this menu is great value if you’re bringing a big appetite. The Iftar menu is priced at £65 per person.

The Great Chase
Aside from serving up their famous halal roast, the Great Chase is putting on an Iftar menu that starts at £55. This Islington restaurant, which is close by Angel tube, has introduced the menu for Ramadan, allowing guests to break their fast with a Medjool date followed by a lavish three-course menu which champions British ingredients. Be warned, this one is popular and will need booking.

Spice Village
Both Spice Village restaurants in Southall and Tooting are putting on Iftar menus for those celebrating Ramadan. The Southall branch has both a buffet and a set menu to choose from. The buffet pricing ranges from £19.99 to £22.99 depending on which day you book, and the set menu is priced at £27.99 with a minimum booking of 10 people. The Tooting branch is putting on an Iftar set menu at £14.99 per person, which explores the best of Pakistani cuisine. All the food is 100% Halal.

Comptoir Libanais

The informal Lebanese cafe chain has launched an Iftar feast for £29.95 per person. It includes dates and a choice of drink for you to break your fast, followed by a selection of mezze, and a choice of mixed grills, salad or tagine, followed by the traditional Lebanese dessert of orange blossom mouhalabia. It is available for delivery, click and collect and dine in.

Meet Bros
Over in Paddington, this halal steakhouse has put on a special Iftar set menu every day from 5pm—11pm during Ramadan. Guests can break their fast with lentil soup and focaccia followed by a choice of braised beef ribs, crispy friend lamb ribs or grilled chicken and dessert. The Iftar set menu is priced at £49.95, but if you’d rather order a la carte, there’s a wider selection of options to choose from, including vegetarian and seafood options.

HERA

Stratford’s newly opened luxury Greek restaurant and bar HERA, have announced that they will be serving an exclusive Iftar set menu for Ramadan. The menu includes a selection of Greek-inspired dishes which are ideal for sharing amongst friends and family. You’ll break your fast with with dates, fresh bread and melitzanosalata before choosing from an array of starters such as Greek salad, calamari, feta saganaki, with a choice of mousakka, grilled sea bass, Cretan pasta, or charcoal chicken skewers for mains. For dessert, guests can choose between Loukoumades—golden fried dough drizzled with lemon honey and sprinkled with cinnamon and pistachios—or Ekmek Kataifi, a decadent dessert featuring layers of shredded kataifi, pistachios, and velvety custard cream. The menu is priced at £60 per person.
