The best places to catch a glimpse of the Southport Air Show

Fans of aviation will be heading to Southport this weekend for the annual Air Show.

The event is always hugely popular in Merseyside with thousands of people  expected to attend the three day showcase.

Given the huge numbers expected to head down to the beach front, many will no doubt already be trying to work out how to get the best view.

Thankfully, there are a number of places in and around Southport where you can enjoy it without actually being inside the viewing areas that have been cordoned off.

Here are some of the best vantage points to see the Southport Air Show

Marine Lake Cafe

Sit outside at the Marine Lake Cafe and you can see the Southport Air Show displays.

There are many tables and you can have something to eat there, too.

The Waterfront pub

Positioned in the heart of Southport you can see all of the action with your loved ones and the children.

Food and drinks are also served here, making it a great place to enjoy the fun.

Where is it?: Floral Hall Gardens, The Promenade, Southport, PR9 0DZ

The Victoria Pub

The Victoria Pub is within walking distance of Southport Pier, so fans looking to see the air show displays.

The pub's Beer Garden is the main vantage point to see the Air Show at this venue.

Where is it?: 42-43 Stanley Terrace, Promenade, Southport, PR9 0DS

Ainsdale Beach

You can enjoy coastal views and all of the aircraft from Ainsdale Beach.

It's a bit further down the road from Southport but it's convenient if you are wanting to make a quick getaway.

Where is it?: Shore Road, Ainsdale, Merseyside, PR8 2QB

The Guelder Rose

The Guelder Rose is positioned right on Southport's famous seafront and it offers sweeping views of the sea.

There is a menu which is served daily and offers everything from small plates and kids favourites, to pub classics and a carvery.

Children can run around in the indoor and outdoor play areas, too.

Where is it?: 50 Marine Drive, Merseyside, Southport, PR8 1RY

Ramada Plaza Hotel

The Ramada Plaza Hotel has a sun terrace so you can see the displays and the magnificent panoramic coastal views.

It can be found next to the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre.

The terrace offers food and drink and the hotel offers the finest in luxury city centre style hotel accommodation.
